In the Ross Sea

Part 4 of 7

Final­ly we have made it through the ice and rea­ched the inner Ross Sea. The „gre­at bar­ri­er“ is stret­ching end­less­ly in front of us, the ice wall of the immense Ross Ice Shelf, whe­re heli­c­op­ter flights pro­vi­de some first nut­ri­ti­on for our hun­ger for explo­ra­ti­on and release some of the pres­su­re that has built up here and the­re during almost 2 weeks at sea. Not all of us are born as sea­fa­rers.

Landing at Cape Evans and visi­ting Scott’s last hut the­re tur­ned out to be almost sur­pri­sin­gly easy, some­thing that make a dream come true for many on board.
